On February 13, 2011 our member Max passed from this earth. Max was one of a kind. A great fellow who didn't weather foolishness of any sort. He had a genuine way of telling a man to go to hell in such a way that he looked forward to the trip. But in the end folks generally saw his point of view, respected him for his openess and honesty, and found a sense of sincerity that few men could match. One of a kind on one hand, but typical of many of his generation on the other. Max served in WWII in the European theater and was in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. He had this to say about it when his Max's patriotism was once questioned in an insulting manner on another internet forum. "Aside from a brief time between the spring of 1942 and the fall of 1945, when I had the opportunity to mostly walk thru France, Belgium and a little bit of Western Germany, I have no military experience." Rest in Peace soldier.

Our old soldiers are leaving us in increasing numbers. Been 70+ yrs since WWII. A man had to be tough to have fought then and lived till now. Blessings on his family/friends.

RIP Max. Thank you for taking that stroll.

We had our annual Camp Bouse memorial ceremony yesterday.
Last year we had 5 WWII soldiers attend, this year 2. I fear next year we will not have any left.

I loved Max to death. He and I conversed much. I have a 338 slug he took out of an Alaskan grizzly he killed and a set of 44 mag and 10mm Auto dies he gave me. He was one hell of a man and a humble one that would keep you laughing. The world lost a great man when Max passed away...

RIP Max.  Don't think we ever met and for that I am unfortunate.

Here's a toast to you and yours who have done such things

for us and ours;

and when we and ours have it in our powers to do for you

and yours what you and yours have done for us and ours,

then we and ours will do for you and yours what you

and yours have done for ours.

Max will be missed by many of us. He had a tough couple of last years. But his wit and intelligence never deminished.

RIP
