Back in july I participated i my first long range tactical shoot, heck for that matter first competition of any kind and had a blast (pun intended)
This convinced me I need to buy or build a 6.5 Creedmore so I can do a lot more of these
For this match I used my 300 Win Mag which was fine but the smaller cartridge makes more sense in a lot of ways.

so here's the "small act of faith", yesterday I bought a set of Redding 6.5 Creedmore dies, now I jut need to round up components and oh yeah a Rifle

Below is a link to the shoot

Sounds like a blast! (sorry I stole your use of a pun)

Start small. Those dies are probably the least expensive part of the project. But as I keep telling my wife, no hobby is free, some just more expensive than others.

Keep us informed.

Jeff Foxworthy - If you've ever bought dies for a caliber you don't own, you might be a handloader.

If good quality but used would suit you, they sell some good stuff on AccurateShooter.com. Bat actions, Nightforce scopes, etc.

If you've ever bought a set of dies just because you've never heard of the caliber and figure you might find a rifle to match cheap. You might be a handloader. :sofa:

That is how we justify the dies to the wife.

The pictures in the link are great. Looks like a ton of fun and an awesome place to shoot. Hope you get the Creedmore going. Of course, we will expect DETAILED pics of EVERY THING as you build. RD

If you want to save some money I could suggest a Savage. I went with a Savage #12 as an entry level F-Class rifle. It shot 5-shot groups around 1 1/2" at 300 yds. as a factory rifle. After using it for two or three years the barrel was shot out (originally 6.5x284) so I had a Bartlein bbl. in 284 put on. Now it shoots 5-shots hovering around 1" or less at 300 yds. I decided that I don't need a $1600 action or a $3000.00 rifle. I put a $1600.00 Nightforce scope on it, plus 20 moa base and good rings, so I still have quite a bit tied up in the complete outfit. But still about $2000.00 less than a full-blown custom rig and it shoots plenty good enough to win. I just upgraded the trigger on it. The AccuTrigger (red target model) is fine unless you try to go below 1 1/2 or 2 lbs.
