They have a bunch of good information here for fans of the 1911. The 6 links to Brownell's don't work. I read a bunch of the others, all good stuff.

My weakness. Is there a 1911 Anonymous Group Meeting or anything? 12 step program?

Step 1 is Bring Ammo, there will be Range Time later. :)

I love St. John's finest creation.

His 2 finest creations actually, the Auto 5 as well. :)

Yes, forget Ma at your distinct peril.
I have seen now the latest "upgrade" to her is a quick-change barrel (which has been needed for decades). No more having to reset headspace and timing.

I was forced, forced I tall ya, by my youngest daughter, (my shoulder still hurts lol) recently to loan her one of my 1911's (the Taurus with the accessory rail) as she was wanting to be able to go practice more than she is able to coming up here to The Boonies to visit me.

It was not my first choice by my preferences, but, given my options, it was the best we had.

The Star B Super is an all steel 9mmP, zero recoil, SAO, but something about it and her grip digs the backstrap spur into her shooting thumb knuckle.
The .380 is modest on recoil, but, small, short sight radius, DA/SA, also not the best "learning gun". IMO it is easier to learn to shoot DA/SA's if you have good basic skills to start with.
The 19 ounce .45 Compact Polymer Witness was out, recoil and short, also top-heavy balance.

Dad's old Ruger Auto .22 (pre Mk-I) is a non-starter, DREADFUL trigger, and it fails to feed a lot. I suspect a whole raft of new springs are in need (recoil and magazines).

So,,, since the recoil really doesn't bother her and the gun doesn't beat her hand up, we somewhat downloaded some ammo for her (4.5gr Red Dot 200gr Lasercast LRN), she is honing her basic skills of Sight Alignment/Sight Picture/Trigger Squeeze with St. John's Old Loudmouf. All 3 pounds of his steel.
From pictures she has sent me of targets,,, she isn't annie oakley, but she is just getting started, and she is doing acceptably for a new shooter IMO. She's "all over' a silhouette target, but she is 'all over' it, in the center as well as around the edges.
"Practice the basics girl, and that shotgun-pattern will get smaller and smaller, you're doing fine."

I gave my daughter a S&W 637 in 38 Spl which she promptly after shooting said she did not like it.

We went shooting where she shot a Springfield in 40 and a 9mm and a 1911. My daughter is a full-grown woman. After the smoke cleared almost had to fight her to get my 1911 back. She keeps bugging me about getting her a 1911. Her son feels the same way. Good part is that he is 21 and bought a Kimber 1911. So my daughter will get my Ruger SR1911 Commander.

Have to share this. I read a post somewhere where a guy that had served in the Air Force was talking about the 1911. He said that they called them noggin busters caused if you did not hold it correctly it would bust their noggin. Took me a long time to stop laughing. If he could see my daughter shoot the 1911.

I have the 1911 illness also. I bought another one at the gun show last week but it is a double stack Para-ordinance p-14. I got it for a very good price, couldn't pass it up.
