Bless your mother and your family! As for me, I've been out and gone for a bit, five heart procedures and had bad bout with blood pressure last night. These problems run in family history for me. Hope everything goes as well as it possibly can. May I ask, did she take cholesterol meds?

She had taken satin drug, (I don't remember name, just type)they pulled her off it about year ago, to rule out drug induced dementia.

Robert, Thoughts and prayers to you and your mother. Both my mother and mother in law suffered from this. My mother's ordeal with it was cut short by cancer. My mother in law wasn't herself for a couple of years. Terrible news indeed. RD

I go down to see her, in a few days for week. Good news is drugs seem to be lessening symptoms. When I talked to her on Thanksgiving, she seemed in good spirts.

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts sent our way.
Robert

So far, your mother is not doing badly.
You can expect things to get worse. My wife has Alzheimer's and an arrested lymphatic cancer.
I am her care provider, 24/7.
Last night I got less than 4 hours sleep and that is becoming the norm
Her birthday is 11/12/36, so she is pretty well on.
As a guess, her Alzheimer's is at about 75/80% on the advanced side, sounds as though your mother is still in the early stages.

Prayers for you and your family.

We went from beginning to end with my wife's mother (she stayed at home) and my Grandmother (she was in a nursing home for 7 years) here in the town where I live. I sure wish you the best.

Just got back from week long visit. Mom is doing well all things considered. They're very good at covering how much it has effected her and putting on good face. I have no illusions on prognosis of this and the long term outcome. I'm just hopeful, she remains comfortable and lucid as long as possible.

Had a discussion with Dad on long term care options and plans have been made. Luckily brother and sister live nearby and help out with care. Sister also has vacant MIL house on her place, so when need arises, still a ways off hopefully, folks can move into it and still have some independence. She has some experience with hospice care and took care of both in-laws, end of life care.

I will spend as much time as possible, but fortunately have kept in contact, so have no regrets.

Robert, I was taking Simvistatin for several years. It caused me to have numerous TIA's. Went to ememrgency room and saw a documentry on hospital TV while waiting in emergency. Said that Simvistatin had been causing strokes. Immediately got of that statin and will never take another statin of any name. I have been TIA free now for over a year. I'd just as soon die of high colesterol. I feel great so something must be right. We will hear more about this in the future.
