On Monday I completed the last of 3 procedures to implant a neurostimulator to treat Parkinson's disease. It certainly wasn't much fun but the tests performed in the OR were amazing. My tremors were gone and I had full range of motion in both arms and legs. I felt as if someone rolled the clock back 15 years or more.
DBS is not a cure nor is it for everyone with PD but I thought that there might be a few people in the HLB community that are struggling with this insidious disease who have also tuned out the typical PD support groups. If so, let me know and I will be happy to share my experiences.

OM, Great news! I have a good friend who has had them for 3-4 years. In fact, the technology is changing so fast that he just had them replaced with a new set. Made a noticable difference immediately. From his experiences I know that it takes courage just to sit through this procedure. I salute your perseverance. RD
