I've had several photo sharing accounts in the past and I've let them all lapse. I just don't want to be bothered and I don't need any more spam in my spam folder.

I used to contribute quite a bit on one of the photography/camera sites and it was so easy to just upload a pic directly to the site I was on and share.

I am on Bark River's knife page and I can upload pics there.

Surely if we all contributed a little we could add the server capacity necessary. I'm sure this bulletin board software can handle the tech.

There is a upload feature when you are posting. But it is limited by size. There just aren't any photo sharing add-ons for the software. I will look into seeing if we can increase the size of uploads.

Why isn't the present system adequate? It's certainly easy to use. Am I missing something?

Better yet, from an OPSEC standpoint, store them on your hard drive and upload directly from there. Those cloud based storage places are vulnerable in many ways.

I downsize images and then post them directly from my computer. Works a treat and keeps the files small.

I'd have to think the photo size would be a requirement to keep costs down. And since we can link to photo sharing sites I'm not sure why this is even an issue?

Resize your photos or share them to a site share. Google offers free storage and so does every other larger provider out there. No reason to bloat the board if not needed.

Just my 2 cents.

Seems fine to me too.

I don't upload a lot of photos but I have no trouble when I do.

That said, I agree with the reluctance to use a photo sharing site.
I am WAY too lazy to do that.

If I couldn't upload directly, I just wouldn't upload.

I use this free site http://www.picresize.com/ to resize my pics to fit on HB. Very little lost in clarity. I then relabel resized version and post it to my photos. Then I downlaod here. RD

I use photo bucket exclusively. Not because its the best.
I just have been using it for over 10 years and to lazy to learn a new one.

There are pro and con for the site.
Pro for a hosting service you dont have to store all the images on site.
Con is after time you end up will allot of dead image links in your threads as the people who added the images let them laps.
No big deal for short lived threads, but we have some that hang on a while because they are passing useful information.

Ditto.  I don't like sharing sites and loading from my hard drive and resizing as necessary only takes a minute or two.  Pics don't need to be huge to be relevant or pleasing as Plainsman has clearly shown.
