I've had a PB account for years, but haven't been on it in a while. I've tried to post pics here but keep getting the "file too large" message. I went to PB in an attempt to resize, but, although I can log in, I can't copy the IMG file now. Any insight into what I need to do? Seems like my account may be locked, but how can I get it unlocked now? Flustered. :D

 I posted a pic of my tumbled brass from a SS media tumbler in the "tools of the trade" forum.

I can't post pics from my hard drive tho, seems they need to be resized thru a secondary photo site first.

I just resize to a smaller jpg with the default photo program and post from my hard drive. 600 x 400 seems to work just fine. Plainsman, our resident photographer, could probably be even more informative.

I open my photo folder, on the computer, and edit it there. Select the photo (don't click in it) and go to edit on your tool bar. You can resize the photo there and save it. I have no issues posting to the sight, when I do that.

How does one post directly from their 'puter?

I thought is had to be a http url link that was available online from a site like PB?

If you post directly does it upload a copy to the HB server?

Two ways ,either hit the reply to tab at the top of the page ( as opposed to the quick reply tab at the bottom of the page ) and choose the insert foto tab on the right upper hand side ,then either chose location from Puter or web site and then click upload
Or click the quick reply post and immediately edit ,same tab except for me this one doesn't give me a web addy choice
There's a post test thread in this sub forum you can go play around on if you wish ( in the Stikki and announcements in the tech forum )

Thanks but that doesn't give me that option - when I click the insert image button (2nd in from right-) all I get is a 'image url' box with http:// inserted and a OK or Cancel button. Nothing to allow me to browse my system for a file.
Do I maybe have some profile option disabled?

I am able to do it if I enter a post then immediately edit it. It will then give me the option to browse.

Nope - that doesn't work for me either...

are there any scripts trying to run? I use Win 8.1 with  no-script in firefox and generally block anything with goo gle in the name.

all the other media buttons (flash, Utube, media player, etc) also only give the option to use a http URL.

OK so I'm now giving IE with no add-ons a whirl...
[img][/img] ... interestingly it places the brackets directly in the text for me and doesn't offer the popup dialog I normally see...

I guess it doesn't really matter as I am used to using PB however when I clean out pics or rearrange/reformat folders, the pic links do get broken, making old posts a little worthless. It is nicer if a copy of the pic stays with the thread.

oops - it also allows me to double post - which firefox doesn't seem to be a sensitive

if you manage to get either the image or url tabs copy and paste the location in between those and you're all set this one from actually googling "random image" and then choosing one i liked :P
