my suggestion would be to do this with either a premium Elk or Deer breakfast sausage

Ok, I did this but used think cut bacon I cut into 1in pieces and cooked crispy. all else was the same and now I'm going to try the sausage method (didn't have any unfroze when I did this)next. Best way use cheap canned biscuits I know of LOL. Of course wife thought I was nuts when I ask for a can of them. needing to fid a way to cut in half, we had way to many leftovers. So guess what's for breakfast tomorrow LOL. Thanks for the jump start on breakfast casseroles, we did them in the past and just lost them for a while.

I'll bet just dropping the biscuit dough in there would be better than canned biscuits anyway. Sounds kind of like here. She makes the gravy and I make the biscuits... I don't like Ellie Mae biscuits.. and she don't like peppered gravy, so its all good in the long run.

No Elk Breakfast sausage yet, I've still got 10 lbs of Venison B'fast sausage in the freezer. I'm afraid if I made the Elk I may not eat the Venison!:lol::lol:

I know you meant Elk and not Elf, otherwise Santa is gonna be mad at you!:lol::lol:

That looks real good, just returned from the great NW and the Son's brood, our grandkids, four. Wish I had that recipe before we returned, would make a nice 8 person feed. Of course the 6ft tall 13 year old, grandson, might need one for himself. I have two big, eating machines, the 15 year old is 6'2" at 200 pounds. They can eat some groceries.

I bet a small batch of home made sour dough buscuits would bring out the flavor better than a can of wham-pops!

Ok, more to report. I have made this three ways now. first as above with the bacon. Then same with good qualtity (homespun) sausage, even better than the bacon. then I went all out made the biscuit dough and dropped it in then went with the recipe. The REAL biscuits are the way to go, the canned ones are not to be tossed by any means but something about a just plain old biscuit that grabs you. Son made some with the Grands biscuits and said they were better than the cheap ones. May give them a try, I said may, not will... LOL Wife saw something along the same line with meatballs and spaghetti sauce, so now it's on.. no telling where she will take this... I will keep you informed of the progress
