On the Recobs Target Shop site I see 5 new IMR shotgun/pistol powders listed. The names are simply Red, Green, Blue, Target, and Unequal.

Looking at this one would assume that they are competitor versions of the Alliant "Dot" powders and Unique. The Target powder has me scratching my head. Another version of Clays?

Anybody else looked at these yet? Just curious. I have not yet had an opportunity to look at these and "dot" data side by side. RD

Being how the others are trying to match Alliant's powders and from description, charges, and listed pistol uses, I'm thinking Target is Bullseye, alternative.

Unequal = Unique, perhaps?

The only reason I would take a look at them would be if Clays or Universal become scarce. I can't trap or skeet without at least one of them.

In the burn rate Unequal is right behind Universal and Unique.

I didn't think about it being close to Bullseye. I'm thinking you are right. Of course Ed's link to the burn rate chart pretty much confirms it. RD

Yep, they match, by burn rate and data the Alliant Dots, Unique, and Bullseye.

No guarantee the density is the same, but measured by weight, same-same for the same loadings.

I have not used.

According to my sources, they are supposed to be interchangeable, load for load, in shotgun shells yet they are saying to find data for metallic uses.

Hodgdon online has pistol loads using Target, Red and Unequal, they pretty well match up with Bullseye, Red Dot, and Unique data. I guessing, they will fill in Green and Blue data in time.

From my experience Green Dot pistol data is somewhat scarce now. There is some on Alliant's site but virtually none on bullet manufacturers sites etc. RD

Pretty much all shotgun powders are very capable of Pistol Duty.

I probably won't try these unless they are cheaper than the originals (doubtful), or the originals are sold out or discontinued.

everyplace I have seen them they are the same price as the Alliant powders.

green-dot falls right between red-dot and unique on the burn charts. [and in actuality from my testing]
most manufacturers seem to overlook it's usefulness as a pistol powder because of this.
they like to overlook Herco too.
but they are both very useful in the revolver rounds.
I like green-dot in the 45 acp but generally shoot it in the European hulls in 12 ga. trap and light field type loads in the American cases..
it is a great replacement for P/B in the paper hulls too, it gives off that pleasant smell of the powder and wax mixed together.
