In this weather, it is hard for me to get outside some day to get a good walk, but this morning, even thou it was 17 degrees, I walked around the fields with Rufus.

A decent diet and healthy simple exercise is really good for you.

Jerry

It's midnight here in the snowy hills of Eastern Ohio with more snow or freezing rain expected tonight, so I took Rufus out for a long walk to my backstop and back to the house. He is off to bed, I am still working off the effects of all the coffee I drank today.

The weather is really crummy, but I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow except for the local gunstore.

Happy New Years,

Jerry

Lets see it was about 5 years ago in november we had a freak snow storm that dropped  9 inches on Yucaipa,CA what a blast watching californians trying to drive in snow,a white lifted p/u with huge m/t tires couldn't drive up the street faster than about 10mph so I passed him in my scrambler making 2 rooster tails of slush which landed on his truck!

I fly in snow storms, my arms get tired.

In over 50 years of driving, I have been stuck once in the snow. In western Michigan during a lake effect snow storm, a semi passed me by, he was speeding and his wake pushed me off the road. With a little help, I got it out of the medium. The semi was off the road about 5 miles after me. The road went to the right and he didn't.

Just drive slow and remember that 4 wheel drive doesn't work on ice very wheel, but chains will help.

It's been a long day. After I get up a noon, I am going to the bank and my local gun store.

For a good number of years my exercise program consisted of 12oz curls... When I was working, I didn't need regular exercise.. Now that I'm retired, those 12oz curls have been cut back drastically...

We seldom drink in my household, we are both type II Diabetics. So we eat well, exercise regularly.

I do have a couple of bottles of Sleeman's Beer in the frig, they are from Canada. If you want to come by for a beer, we do have at the moment.

Thanks for the invitation... Sleeman's beer is a new one on me. I guess I'm like a lot of people in the US - only know Labatts..

LaBatts and Molson in the states maybe different than in Canada. Sleeman's is sort of like what Sam Adams used to be, a regional high quality hand crafted beer.

Oh...wait...this thread is about exercise, not beer drinking...lol
I work in a medium sized machine shop and wore a pedometer for about a month..I put in 3 to 5 miles inside in a day....no wonder my poor feet are tied at the end of a long day....RA in the feet doesn't help at times....

We have friends who come down from Canada to visit, so they bring a 6 pack of beer generally and some Cadbury Crunchy bars.

Rufus has been walked to the back stop and around the back field already today, it is sort of snowing with freezing range.

Happy New Year,

Jerry

I work a farm, and jusr because it is not growing seaon doesn't mean I am not busy. besides walking the dog, I fix fence lines, do repairs in the barn.

When the weather breaks, I will service the tractor amd all of the implements. I have some welding to do on my finishing mower, so that will get done.

But I walk a lot, and generally with a rifle or a large pistol.

I am waiting for my insoles to arrive at my DPM, my feet are showing their age and all of the abuse from my younger years.

Yup, I totally agreed with you.For good health and fitness balance diet and regular exercise are most important elements.Walking, running or jogging are so beneficial for being healthy. They improve stamina and breathing.

Getting to excercise is the best thing that you can do, if you can walk to the shop instead of driving, or walk to the mailbox etc, it all adds up.

Just remember to start small, and work up to the distance, and increase the pace as you can, within your own restrictions of age, medical conditions, fitness etc etc
