I just recently picked up a target action model 12 Savage. Looking thru load data and bullet selection I noticed most of the popular powders used are the same I use for .223 and some .308.
I'm wondering if Alliant AR-Comp will work and if anyone has ever worked up a load for it? It's been my go-to powder for shooting heavies in .223. It has the similar burn rate to allot of the favorites listed for 6BR.
I need to break down and buy the quickload software but haven't got there yet.
Bulllets I have on had from .243 loading include 105 grain A-max, 87 grain V-max and a ton of 70 grain moly BK.
Barrel on the gun is 29" 1-8 twist

I've got a custom REM700 that was built by Darrel Holland chambered in 6mm BR. Used it at 200yd varmint matches. Go to load for me was 31.1gr of Hodgdon Benchmark with Euber 68grFB bullets. Not sure but I think the barrel was a Shilen with a 1/8 twist. .Hope this helps a little

My go to load is 30 Grains Varget under a 105 Berger Hybrid with CCI BR primer.

If this does not ruffles any feathers on this site, go over to 6mm BR.com and get more 6mm BR info than you can digest.

I have a Savage 12BVSS custom in 6mmBR. It has a 1 in 12 twist.
My best load is a Berger 80 grain FBHP with 30.5 grains of Varget. Primer is CCI BR4.
It is amazingly accurate in my rifle.

I'm about to order a 6BR and want to shoot 87 to 90gn bullets out to 300yards. I'm thinking of a 10 twist barrel. I don't need to go heavier than 90 for that distance I reckon. I have plenty of Varget

Jungler: Some years ago I built a custom 6m/m BR for Varmint Hunting (Rock Chucks, Prairie Dogs - Colony Varminting). My Rifle loves good old H 322 powder for bullets up to 75 grains.
I get AMAZING accuracy with this powder and good velocities.
If you get a chance when your new Rifle gets to you try this powder.
Great cartridge by the way very efficient and again amazingly accurate with low recoil, long barrel and brass life.
Good luck to you.

I don't shot the 6BR but do many 6MM's my 6MM PPC likes the VVN133 along with the H322 use for accuracy and not speed- also works great on chucks.

Thanks for that VG Not sure if I can get H322 in the Antipodes, but the local powder producer makes a lot of powder for Hogden so I'll see if there's an equivalent.

I read recently that H322 is known as ADI AR2219 'down under'.

You're right Nanook I had a look at the ADI powder equivalents and that's what came up. Might have to get some.
