I got the mini chop saw from Harbor Freight to cut off 5.56 to make .300 AAC, and I thought, I'm going to cut the shoulder/neck off a .50 BMG and see how it looks shined up. I know any weapon that fired this would be in Class III land as it's more than .50 (I have not measured the i.d. of the "new" case mouth) but it's fun to think about. A 5.56 case is shown for scale.

That could be equipped with a 12 ga slug, I think just shy of 3/4 inch.

Hmmm, maybe I'll put a 12 gauge slug in it for a desk ornament! I already have a dummy .50 (with bullet) and a 20mm case that get a lot of attention from visitors ...

If you have access to a lathe, machine a copper or bronze slug for it and keep it polished up....

I would have to double-check for confirmation, but I BELIEVE that is how they created the 12 Gauge From Hell (12GFH).

NO! he should not.
Trust me on that one..I built a 12 gauge pistol inline.
Nothing to hold onto except the action and barrel.
maybe 8" total length and I fired it Once with universal 7 1/2 shot.

Held it to my side arm extended out and fired it ..my arm was jerked back faster than the human eye can see movement.. the single shot fell to the ground..I hit the target right where I was aiming.

Terrible idea.. cool weapon though. if you can have terrible and cool in the same weapon.

Annoyed is correct, the 12GFH was created by turning the heads down to accept a 12ga brass head that was removed from a hull. The bullets were made form 3/4in copper pipe cap with a lead pull pressed in and rounded over with a die. I bought one from him and a barrel. Made my own cases from then on. I put it in safe after playing for a while -- getting to old to recover from the shoving it gave me... you shoot those standing not from a bench, trust me there.
Big difference here is I used the 50 cal full length some others did cut them down later on. I have made a few for friends that were cut to 2 3/4in, basically a heavy duty brass hull.
