Interesting, but very technical web page on Barrel Tuners
Ran into this over on Varmint Al's pages. Great article on how and why barrel tuners work. Long and detailed, but particularly interesting graphs that show how tuners allow the bullet to exit on a barrel's upswing deflections rather than on the downswing side by slowing the upswing reaction. RD
Most of the work on barrel harmonics was done by the Navy for battleship use. they also used early digital computers to predict the wave action 'roll' of ships to compensate for the MIL on firing. interesting with those mammoth barrels.
